This next step is CRUCIAL... making the rear quarter window fit 😏
There's an order of operations when it comes to chopping a roof... especially if you want to make it look good. The first step was lining up the B-pillar, then we manipulated the back to fit the belt line. Now we need to make the rear quarter window fit. This step is crucial for making the chop look good and guess what?... we nailed it 😏

Roof chop dilemma... gotta manipulate it to fit 🤨
Переглядів 67 тис.18 годин тому
We wanted this to be a clean chop with minimal cuts. So we chopped the roof in an unconventional way by slicing the back of the roof at the belt line. We did this so that we can slide the excess inside the car and then just weld the seam without having to make sail panels. Except, we ran into an issue making the rear fit so we're going to have to manipulate it to fit 😵 IF YOU ENJOYED WATCHING: ...
Did we do the right thing by swapping Volvo's? This one is in rougher shape 🤔
Переглядів 60 тис.20 годин тому
We sold our 1961 Volvo 544 for the same price we bought it for... $6,000. But we also got a 1959 Volvo 544 for free with the deal. So it means we are starting at $0 for this build which is obviously ideal. The one we sold was a running, driving, stopping car that had a complete interior. This red one doesn't run, has rust issues, and needs a new floor. So are we really further ahead? Or should ...
The moment of truth... swapping the rear ends 😬
Переглядів 65 тис.23 години тому
We're ready to swap the rear end with the new one we just picked up from the junkyard. The chassis has been mocked up with the original rear end welded in place. We're hoping everything will be the same once we do the swap.... Once we remove the rear end, we'll be able to finish the c-notch fabrication. We'll also be able to straighten out the rear of the chassis where it's still twisted. The r...

Remember the 1961 Volvo that we recently bought for $6,000? Well someone that lives locally got in touch with us and wants to buy it before we start slicing and dicing it. Come to find out he has the same Volvo but in rougher shape. He doesn't have the time or resources to work on his which is why he's interested in ours since it's now a running, stopping and driving car. So we came to take a l...
Chopping the roof... the simple, clean, and easy way 😎

We're ready to chop the roof on the 1933 Plymouth. The goal is to do a clean chop with the least amount of cuts as possible. We're also going to simplify it by not using a measuring tape - the masking tape will be the measurement 🪚 IF YOU ENJOYED WATCHING: subscribe, leave a comment and hit the like button ua-cam.com/users/badchad CHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE HERE: www.hiltzautoco.com FOLLOW US ON...
Junkyard hunt... look what we found for the 1933 Plymouth 😅👏
Переглядів 76 тис.День тому
Nate found us the perfect rear end for the 1933 Plymouth at a local junkyard. It's a Ford 8.8 with a 31 spline and 411 gears. This will give the car more torque and power. It will also make it easier to get brakes. So we need to cut it out of the Ford truck and haul it back to the shop then we need to tackle the steering 😅 BONUS episode: ua-cam.com/video/5WTnBKtcwXo/v-deo.html If you enjoyed wa...
Prepping for the roof chop + more chassis surgery 😵
Переглядів 70 тис.День тому
Everybody needs a haircut... including our 1933 Plymouth. So we're going to mark out where Bad Chad plans on making the cuts to chop the roof plus make the final chassis revision. Where the chassis has been Z'd, the lines are too sharp for our liking so we're going to cut it out and put a rounded piece back in. Do you think it looks better or worse? Lots of controversy on how we're building this hotrod chassis 😝
Переглядів 70 тис.День тому
The vision for this build can be summed up in two words... nostalgic hotrod. The frame was modified prior to us buying it but we just want to straighten things out. We also want to maintain the stance that the previous builder had accomplished but there's still an issue with the upper portion so we're going to have to cut into the frame to straighten it out. Just discovered the frame is twisted ❌

We need to bring in our frame table so that we can nail the chassis down to the table. Once it's nailed down, we can start welding in the new x brace with the hope that it will straighten everything back to normal. Hoping this flathead V8 engine fires... if it does we're using it in the 1934 Plymouth🤞
Переглядів 80 тис.День тому
Jolene wants to be able to race this 1934 Plymouth coupe at Pinetree Jamboree this fall so that means it needs a flathead. It just so happens that we have one with a 5 speed transmission that supposedly ran really good. The chassis has already been modified for a flathead so it's the perfect storm. Once we get it mounted, Nate is going to see if it will fire 🤞 If you enjoyed watching ⬇️ subscri...
We just fabricated a C-NOTCH for $50 🙌🏼
Переглядів 64 тис.14 днів тому
Before we can start fabricating a floor we need to deal with the chassis. The rear axle is welded to the frame which means there's no rear suspension. We want to keep the same ride height, so in order for that to happen we need to fabricate a c-notch on the chassis which will provide the necessary suspension travel. We're going to show a basic and universal way to fabricate your own 😎 If you en...

I love how you do not hasatàte to start chopping a car and you did this Plymouth so quick with just a bar minimum of cuts so many other people would have over though it and made a mess out of it I think your confidence level is way above average you have chopped so many different types of car that you make it look so simple and you look at the job different then the average person does you know when you make a cut where the panels are going to land and I know your all about doing it as fast as you possibly can and if you had ever been nervous it sure does not show or if you ever second guessed I could never tell great job Chad and Jolene. I am very impressed with this hope great job again guys can't waite to see tĥè a Pilars and windshield done I'll see yall tomorrow night

If you used the Broncos NP435 trans, how did you mate it up with the 4BT? Did you mate the 435 to a gm/cummings bell, go with and aftermarket of fab something up yourself? Just curious because Im tired of the 429 I swapped into my 78 Bronco and Im looking into a 4BT swap since I retired my old girl to the ranch.
